Yurij Yarin

 

Yurij Yarin was born in 1958 in Moscow. He graduated from Moscow Textile University in 1980, and has been a member of the Moscow Artists’ Union since 1981. He is engaged in painting, sculpture, mosaics, photography and textile art. His works can be found in private collections in Russia, USA, England, France, Spain, Finland and Sweden.

Since 1986 Yarin has focused on the making of mosaic art. His has prepared mosaics for the Pjuhtitskij Convent (Estonia), the Zion Cathedral in Tbilisi (Georgia), St. Thomas’ Church and the Church of Transfiguration in the town of Balashiha near Moscow, St. Nicholas’ Church in Zelenograd also near Moscow, and St. Nicholas’ Cathedral in Kuopio (Finland).

In addition, Yurij Yarin has prepared mosaic icons for various private persons.

Between 1998 and 2001 Yarin organized courses on mosaic art annually in the Lay Academy of the New Valamo monastery in Finland. Since 2002 he has been teaching at the mosaic courses organized by the Mosaic Icon Workshop Petros in Siilinjärvi, Finland.
