16.-19.5.2009 at Kotka folk high school (Kotkan opisto). Enrolling directly to the school.
The teaching on the courses focuses mainly on preparing icons based on the old Bysantic mosaic tradition and its technique. However, beginners can start with making e.g. a small detail from a larger ornamental piece. Thus previous knowledge of the art of icons is not an crucial requirement for those taking part in the course.
The teaching will take place in English and Russian. The teaching will be translated into Finnish.
The workshop would be very happy to organize courses also in locations other than those mentioned above. The theme of the courses can vary from icons to mosaic art in general. Inquiries

Mosaic icon course 9nd - 14th December, 2008 at Siilinjärvi Church Hall
The course is suitable for both beginners and students who already have experience of mosaic art.
The course fee is 150 euros and for materials 10 €. However, you will be charged separately for special kinds of mosaic glass and smalti imported from Venice and St. Petersburg according to how much you wish to use them in your work. Coffee will be served daily and you can heat your lunch in the church hall kitchen. Accommodation is not included in the price, but we will try to help you find a suitable place to stay if needed.
The number of attendants for the course is restricted to 17. The course will take place if there is a minimum of 10 attendants for each day of the course. |
